Message From the Principal

PrincipalChanMing Wai was established nearly half a century ago and since then it has consistently evolved with advancements in education. To fulfill our mission, Ming Wai has continuously strived to provide an excellent education for all of our students.

Ming Wai embraces the importance of language education as well as all other aspects of development during the early years. To allow a smooth transition from kindergarten to primary school, we use Cantonese, English, and Putonghua as the medium of instruction and employ native speakers as class teachers. Our curriculum is developed based on our years of experience in this field and is designed according to children’s developmental milestones at different stages to reinforce their language, general knowledge, and mathematics. We have taken an innovative approach and merged the Cambridge English Pre A1 Starters content into our school-based curriculum in order to prepare our students for their future learning pathway.

An important aspect of early childhood education is the cooperation and communication between parents and teachers. To achieve a holistic approach to education, Ming Wai thrives on frequent communication with our parents. This approach is an indispensable part of our students’ early childhood education and we regularly invite our parents to share their children’s progress with us as well as take into consideration their suggestions.

Every year our Ming Wai graduates are accepted into their preferred primary schools where they continue to achieve excellent results. Ming Wai has accumulated over a million graduates; many of our alumni have contributed to Hong Kong’s successful development and prosperity. Some of our graduates are now parents of Ming Wai students and it is this family tradition that humbles and motivates both the school and myself.

I sincerely believe that every child who enrolls at Ming Wai will gain the confidence and ability to face life’s many challenges and more importantly, become inspired to embark on a path of lifelong learning.

Ms. Chan, MH JP
